California will also see its share of moisture, with a wetter-than-normal winter predicted statewide and above-normal snowfall in the mountains. The Desert Southwest can anticipate more rain than usual this winter, with above-normal snowfall in mountainous regions, particularly in mid-December and early February.
The timing of the snowiest periods will vary across regions, with some areas experiencing their heaviest snowfall as early as mid-November.
