Utah water infrastructure grant applications open

May 28, 2024 — The Utah Legislature has allocated approximately $22 million in grant funding for water infrastructure projects. These funds can support projects that aid in the development, conservation, collection, transmission, storage, treatment, or distribution of water for various uses.

Eligibility Requirements.

To be eligible, projects must be located within Utah, benefit Utah communities and residents, and comply with all applicable laws and regulations.

Prioritization Criteria.

The Utah Division of Natural Resources’ news release states that grant applications will be prioritized based on several factors, including:

  • The ratio of the grant amount requested to the number of residents benefited
  • Estimated timelines for project completion
  • Availability of other funding sources
  • Project lifespan
  • Matching funds contributed by the project proponent
  • Water conservation and environmental benefits
  • Legislative support
  • Overall public benefit
